Gutter Cleaning in Herne Bay, Whitstable & Canterbury
Professional Gutter Cleaning in Kent – Protect Your Home All Year-Round
At Go West Window and Exterior Cleaning, we recommend having your gutters professionally cleaned at least once a year to keep your property fully protected from water damage, damp issues, and expensive repairs. Blocked gutters are one of the most common causes of overflowing rainwater, which can lead to damaged brickwork, fascias, foundations, and internal leaks.
Regular gutter cleaning is an essential part of home and commercial property maintenance, especially in Kent where falling leaves, moss, and debris quickly build up throughout the year. An annual clean helps prevent blockages, extends the lifespan of your guttering, and ensures rainwater is safely directed away from your property.

Why Have Your Gutters Cleared on a Yearly Basis?
When gutters become clogged with leaves, debris, and dirt, water can’t flow freely. This leads to overflowing gutters that can cause water to spill over the sides and damage your roof, walls, and foundation. Regular annual cleaning ensures your gutters remain clear, directing rainwater away from your home, preventing leaks and water damage.
When gutters are filled with standing water and debris, they become a perfect breeding ground for pests like mosquitoes, insects, and even rodents. If gutters are left uncleaned, they can attract unwanted pests into your home. Annual gutter cleaning eliminates debris that attracts pests, reducing the risk of infestations
Overflowing gutters can cause erosion, flooding, and damage to your garden beds, lawn, and other landscaping features. Water cascading from clogged gutters can wash away soil and plants, leading to costly landscaping repairs. Keeping your gutters clean each year helps protect your outdoor spaces from water damage.
Over time, gutters can accumulate leaves, twigs, moss, and dirt, all of which can obstruct the flow of rainwater. When gutters are not regularly cleaned, they can sag, pull away from the building, or even collapse under the weight of the debris. Regular cleaning ensures that your gutters function properly and last longer.
Blocked gutters can also lead to unsightly stains on your exterior walls from water overflow. By cleaning your gutters annually, you avoid these stains and help maintain the neat, polished look of your home. Clean gutters improve the overall curb appeal of your property, which is especially important if you’re thinking of selling.
In colder climates, accumulated debris in gutters can freeze in winter, creating ice dams that block the flow of water. This can lead to serious roof and gutter damage. Cleaning your gutters before winter helps prevent these ice-related issues, allowing your gutters to work efficiently year-round.
Heavy rainstorms can quickly overwhelm clogged gutters, causing water to spill over the sides and down your home’s exterior. Yearly cleaning ensures that your gutters are ready to handle any heavy rainfall, protecting your home from the damage caused by water overflow.
